We were recently visited by Mr. Mike Bullock
founder of the American Working Dog Association (AWDA) and owner
of Bullock’s K-9 located in Greenville, North Carolina.
Mike Bullock began working dogs as a young man, competing in
field trial hunting dog events as a hobby. In 1984, Mike joined
the U.S. Air Force and started working with k-9s, at Lackland
AFB Then he went on to March AFB and continued his training
knowledge. He has trained with some of Europe’s finest KNPV, and
Schutzhund trainers. He has maintained a DEA registered kennel
since 1989. Many states recognize Mike as a court expert in
police K-9 training and tactics. CourtTV had Mike as an expert
guest in 1992. He recently held a seat on the board of
directors, with Drug Beat, only resigning to assume the
responsibilities of Vice President, of the American Working Dog
Association. Mike has trained numerous canines, all over the
country, and is one of the very few able to certify arson K-9s,
as well as, patrol, narcotics, and explosives detection.
During his visit to our facilities we had the opportunity to
work and get up to date with the most recent techniques in
training for detection of drugs and explosives. We were able to
quickly implement these methodologies with our canines and the
results were noticeable within a week. The knowledge we acquired
will give us the opportunity to offer better services to our
clients.
We also coordinated plans for the future of Winstar Nightwatch
Kennel within AWDA. There will be future seminars including a
Fun Match in detection and tracking, and certification of
handlers and canines in Puerto Rico. Keep in touch with our web
